Being a donor has been one of the best experiences of my life and every donation is a new journey that I embrace and cherish.
My Cambodian experience was by far the best donation experience by far as it was my first time traveling with a group. At first, I was a bit apprehensive about having a group of hormonal women who are complete strangers all in one place, but something really special we all became really good friends which I didn’t expect at all. Not only did I get to see and experience a country and its culture for the first time but I also met a group of beautiful strong women who I get to call friends.
The fatality staff in Cambodia was really amazing, not only were they professional but they still maintained that caring and kind touch which I feel is important when working with young girls who are donating their eggs. The retrieval process went seamlessly and I was well taken care of after the procedure. There was a slight discomfort which is normal after any procedure, but on the third day I had no more discomfort and was back to doing my usual day to day routine.
Before my retrieval, I got to meet my IP which was the part of my whole donation experience that made it all more real. Not the scans, not the tests not the actual procedure but meeting the person I am helping, the person I am giving hope to, to have a family, that was the moment when it all became real and reminded me why I wanted to be an egg donor in the first place. I was so humbled and elated to have had the opportunity to get to know my IP and vice versa.
The SA Coordinator Junette is truly an incredible being of a person not only does she go the extra mile to ensure that you are comfortable and happy, but she genuinely cares about you and your overall well-being. I feel so blessed having a coordinator like Junette, who is always on hand for anything and no question is too silly to ask her. She made us laugh and smile when we were feeling a tad hormonal which she didn’t have to do at all and gave us the opportunity to see a little bit of Cambodia when we all had a free day.
NewLife is really doing incredible work not only for the families they help but for the donors as well. I am so grateful to be part of an organization such as NewLife which enables me to help change another person’s life while changing my own. Thank you NewLife.
